cloth fabric blog

I have been meaning to post about Cloth Fabric for months! Cloth Fabric creates beautiful, hand printed fabrics designed by the talented owner Julie Patterson. The hand printing process creates the loveliest texture on some of the patterns.

But the reason for today's post! Julie Patterson also creates beautiful art pieces (I saw a wonderful inky blue one for sale in bangalow recently for anyone who happens to live nearby!). I absolutely love this piece, off-cuts never looked so good!

what i heart this week (sleeping under the stars!)

images from the paperbark camp website

I saw an ad on tv recently that had a collection of opposites. One was that someone will be sleeping in 5 stars and someone will be sleeping under the stars. I pick under the stars! With the new habitus newsletter landing in my inbox today, it seems you can get a little of both! With a little bit of luxury and a big bit of the outdoors, these tents are permanent fixtures at the Paperbark Camp in Jarvis Bay. And the site mentions sea breezes, my kind of camping!

what i heart this week (art for the masses!)

image from the UAP website

What does our public art say about us? I think public art is a great expression of culture, of history and of place. Brisbane has some amazing pieces scattered through out it's streets. They take you out of your day for a moment, you appreciate the shape, form and materials and maybe try to decipher the meaning! I love that a different conversation is possibly happening with every passerby.

The photo above is a great example. It is located at the Mater Hospital in Brisbane, the result of a collaboration between artist Mandy Ridley and UAP. I was at a workshop several years ago where the artist talked about the creative process. I love that such a beautiful, decorative piece has a lot of meaning behind it!
